The University of Hong Kong (HKU) is committed to achieving excellence in research, teaching, knowledge exchange and service provision. But HKU can achieve nothing without the people who work and study here. If you are lacking a sense of equilibrium and well-being you are missing out on the opportunity to achieve your full potential. In recognizing this, the University fully supports every employee and student to become their “best-self” at HKU. The symposium aims to help you enhance your well-being and equilibrium both at work and at home. It will help you engage and connect with what being your “best-self” means for you.
Everyone will be at different places along their “well-being journey”. In this symposium there are a range of breakout sessions and resources that can help you progress at your own pace and in your own way. Learn how valuable stress is to keep you energised, motivated and active, but also how too much stress can lead to poor health, depression and lack of productivity. Learn more about the science behind well-being and find new ways for yourself to both unwind and become energised ! Pick up new tips on how to be more mindful and resilient, cultivate more energy, manage stress, manage your finances and take better care of your aging parents and family.

Work and life should not be a marathon with no end in sight, but instead a series of sprints and recoveries, enabling you to be completely focused when you need to be.

The HKU Wellbeing Symposium is open to all HKU staff and students and is free-of-charge. The symposium will commence with a Keynote Lecture on "The Science of Well-Being” and continue throughout the day with a variety of breakout sessions to provide new inspirations, foster connections and connectedness and provide helpful resources around the six pillars of Health and Well-Being (psychological, social, physical, financial, spiritual and cultural).
